City of Redwood City’s Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Update, March 16, 2020

(The following is a message from the Redwood City eNews)

Today, seven public health officers representing six counties uniformly issued a legal Order asking residents to stay home, a unified step to slow the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and preserve critical health care capacity across the region, effective March 17 through April 7. While this is a bold, unified action, public health officials are encouraging all of us to remain calm. Essential businesses, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and government functions will continue and remain open. Members of the public can continue to take walks or go for a hike outdoors, so long social distancing is practiced.

Business Community
The City understand the impacts that are being experienced by the business community and want to be able to provide resources available for support. Redwood City is collaborating with community partners at the San Mateo County Economic Development Association (SAMCEDA) and the Redwood City San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce to share some important resources and links that can provide Assistance & Guidance for Businesses and Workers Impacted by COVID-19.

SAMCEDA, has compiled a page with links to various organizations and agencies that can provide information, support, and resources. To learn more, click here. If you have specific questions or issues, the Redwood City San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce will be happy to work directly with you to address your inquiries. Please email the Chamber at

While this is a time of uncertainly and unease, this is also a time where the Redwood City community has already come together in an extraordinary way. We are a resilient community and we are here to help each other get through this together. If you are able to, call and check on your neighbors, especially seniors or those with health conditions; send an email greeting to a friend; and stay informed by checking online resources.

Thank you again for your support and continued kindness to one another.
